New Year 2000 - Izmir (Turkey)

Hi, you can find here a part of the pictures I took in Izmir for the New Year. I would like to thanks all the people I met in Izmir because they have been very friendly and I had a lot of fun. It was the first time I have been in Turkey, and to be honest I didn't imagine Turkey like this.

Marco and Yesim (1 January 2001)
We are still in the Yer sofrasi. It's a tent where you have to sit on the floor. Actually you have to sit on on some cousin on the floor. In this place you can have some Turkish tea and something to eat (berecks).

Volkan (31 December 2000)
Volkan is a very good friend of Yesim. He is the first person, with Yesim, I met in Turkey. He lives in the Southern part of the city (). This picture has been taken during the New Year do (this is why he is so smart).

Berk and Umran (30 December 2000)
They are brother and sister and they live on the other side of the city (). We were here in a shopping center, just after a small snack.

We are here in a restaurant, the Venedig Restaurant. We went to sleep really late last night, and we are very tired, and very hungry!

Kemeralti (31 December 2000)
Kemeralti is an old market where you can find a lot of hand made things. Really nice.

After a good dinner, you have to get some sahlep . Don't ask me what it is, I really don't know, but it's very nice.

To get some sahlep we went to a famous place in Izmir where they give it to you directly in your car!

Yesim, Nilay and Serkan (1 January 2001)
We are here still in the Yer sofrasi. Yesim and Nilay are sisters, and Serkan is Nilay's boyfriend.

Nilay and Tombis (1 January 2001)
Tombis is Nilay's and Yesim's dog. It is a beautiful dog. But don't annoy him, and to take his ball, he will beat you! :-)

Goodbye and thanks to all the people I met in Turkey. I hope to see again! Who knows, perhaps next summer ...
